Camp Fire celebrates 85 years
Youth members of Camp Fire Boys and Girls are celebrating Camp Fire's 85th Anniversary. Over 200 Camp Fire members are expected to attend the 85th Anniversary Celebration Project this weekend, collecting over 1,000 non-perishable food items to benefit the Northshore Multi-service Center.
They are also making bird feeders, recycling aluminum, and making cards for hospitalized children. Each member will then have earned the 85th Anniversary Emblem.
"This project will benefit many local organizations as well as the Camp Fire members on the Eastside. This 85th Anniversary is a highlight to all Camp Fire youth," said Cary Bright, Camp Fire volunteer.
The event is one of many community service projects that area members of Camp Fire Boys and Girls have planned to celebrate Camp Fire's 85th Anniversary.
Local members are honoring the long-standing tradition of community service as an integral part of the Camp Fire program. For information call the Eastside office, 885-0477.
The Central Puget Sound Council is also celebrating the 75th year of Camp Sealth on Vashon Island. There are an estimated 65,000 Camp Fire alumni in the area.
