Fire departments announce cooperative recruitment
The city of Bothell Fire Department and Woodinville Fire and Life Safety District are among the seven agencies taking part in the third Cooperative Firefighter Recruitment Effort to acquire a roster of qualified firefighter candidates from which each of the agencies may hire entry-level firefighters.
The seven agencies joined together in 1992 for the purpose of improving the efficiency of the recruitment and selection process.
The consortium's objectives are to maintain the high performance standards of the fire service while enhancing the diversity of the applicant pool with representation by women and persons of color. Entry level standards will not be lowered, and are applied equally to all applicants, fire officials said.
The joint process includes an aggressive recruitment effort, a written exam and a physical ability test. Prospective candidates should call the Firefighter Hotline, 828-2247.
