Water District adds commissioners to board
The Woodinville Water District has expanded its Board of Commissioners from three to five members and appointed Ken Goodwin and Walter Backstrom to fill the new seats. The new members are scheduled to be confirmed at the Mar. 5 board meeting.
Ken Goodwin is the president of King Salmon Commercial Company and has lived in Woodinville for the past four years. He has been a greater Seattle resident for 35 years, graduating from the University of Washington with an MBA. He is also a CPA, and is the current president of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Goodwin serves as the current president of the Hollywood Hill Association and chair of the 1996 Citizens for Northshore Schools Committee, which worked to promote a "yes" vote for the Northshore School District levies. He and his wife Kelly have two children.
Walter Backstrom has lived in this area since 1991 and is a family counselor in private practice. He is Vice-Chair of the Northshore/Shoreline Health and Safety Network, a Community Advisor for the Evergreen Hospice Board. He also continues to serve and be active in different organizations "to help better the quality of life in the City of Woodinville and the Northshore area," he said.
