Women needed for a breast cancer risk study

cancer study Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is currently recruiting 400 women for a study to identify counseling needs of women at risk for breast cancer.
A primary goal of the study is to determine if counseling women about their breast cancer risk helps them better understand issues related to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the disease.
Women between the ages of 18 and 74 who have at least one relative that has been diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 46 may be eligible. The ideal candidate for the study should have never been diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer and live within 60 miles of Seattle.
Women with a family history of breast cancer have told researchers that they want to know what their personal risk for breast cancer is. They also want to know what this risk means in their own lives and what they can do to reduce their risk.
Most importantly, women want to know how to assess and handle the anxiety of knowing they are at risk.
Women who are interested and want to find out more about their eligibility should call the Hutchinson Center at (206) 667- 7092.
