City prepares for birthday celebration March 30

Celebrate Woodinville The floats are being built, the craft booths designed, and the basset hounds are being gussied up for the 17th annual All Fools' Parade, Basset Bash, and community celebration Mar. 30 in Woodinville.
   It is the City of Woodinville's 3rd birthday and promises to be a full day of fun. The city will celebrate with a birthday cake in the council chambers. A Children's Activity Fair will be held in the Sorenson gym.
   The Woodinville Farmers Market will open its third season with a two-day "All Fools' Craft Show" on Saturday/Sunday, Mar. 30 and 31. This year's hours will be the same: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
   The market is opening early again this year to be a part of the 18th "All Fools' Parade," the annual Basset Bash, Celebrate Woodinville, and other community events in downtown Woodinville.
   Among a variety of art and handmade crafts, some Washington State products that will be available include nursery stock, cut flowers, jams, honey, flavored vinegars, cheeses, herbs, and bakery goods. There will be a variety of entertainment and food choices all day long.
   Other highlights will include radio personality Scott Conner answering spring gardening questions, and Entertainment Designs' Susan Lambrecht demonstrating unusual flower arranging and an Easter centerpiece for children to make.
   The parade begins at 11 a.m. For the first time, parade entries will assemble at the Woodinville Park & Ride and then travel west on NE 175th. Residents and businesses are reminded that NE 175th will be closed on Saturday, Mar. 30, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Entries can register by calling the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce at 481-8300.
   An afternoon of entertainment will be take place on a stage between City Hall and Sorenson School.
   The Basset Bash will be held on the Sorenson playfields beginning at1:30 p.m. Bassets from all over will compete for best howl, longest ears, best trick, best costume, and more contests, with the crowning of the 1996 King and Queen concluding the event.    Woodinville Towne Center will have a two-day "All Fools' Fair," and Woodinville Plaza will hold a sidewalk sale. The day will end with a teen dance at Sorenson Gym.
