Police issue another sex offender alert
King County Police have issued a Level Three community release on James D. Hemmingsen, a 23-year-old sex offender who has recently been released from prison. Police consider Hemmingsen to be at a very high risk to reoffend, and while he is expected to live in Seattle, he does have friends and relatives in North King County.
Hemmingsen is a 6-foot-1-inch white male with brown hair, blue eyes and weighing 150 pounds. He has a 2 1/2-inch scar on his left knee, a 2 1/2-inch scar on his right forearm, and wears corrective lenses.
Hemmingsen was released on Mar. 1 after serving his full sentence for indecent liberties with a 36-year-old female. During incarceration, he entered the Sex Offender Treatment Program at Twin Rivers Corrections Center and participated in 16 months of treatment before being terminated for infractions. His participation was viewed as poor.
Hemmingsen's victims have ranged in age from five to 19 years old. His target population is 13- to 25-year-old females who are strangers to him or with whom he engages in a relationship for the purpose of victimization.
Hemmingsen will be under intensive, post-release supervision by the Department of Corrections, Seattle and King County Police.
