Swim lessons at Woodmoor

   Northshore Recreation Council is again offering its popular American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" program providing classes at economical rates. Registration is $30 for 10 half-hour sessions, beginning Apr. 3 and running through May 9. Classes will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with openings in each segment from 5 to 7 p.m. at Woodmoor Elementary school. Contact Georgia Bibbins at 788-3186 to save a slot for your child (do not call the school). Special attention is taken to retain favorable teacher-student ratio in each class, so sign up early to save a space in your preferred time.

Gold Creek Lodge begins preschool registration

   Registration has begun for fall preschool sessions at King County Park System's Gold Creek Lodge preschool in Woodinville. The preschool offers a program on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 2 1/2- to 4-year-olds and a program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for 3 1/2- to 5-year-olds. Observers are welcome. Healthful living expo

   Over 200 exhibits, speakers, and holistic leaders will inform and educate visitors at the Whole Life Expo Mar. 22-24 at the Seattle Center. The Saturday night mixer will benefit New Beginnings for Battered Women and Children. For details, call 332-0099.

Spring craft fair returns

   Woodinville Towne Center, next to Stock Market Foods, will be the site of the 3rd annual Spring Craft Fair, Mar. 30-31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, call Darlene Pearson at 487-2920.

Toys of violence targeted

   Project Peacemaker is working to get violent toys out of the hands of children with a program that would allow kids to cash in their toy weapons for non-violent playthings. The non-profit group is looking for sponsorship donations by May 28 to make the trade-in program possible by June 9. Call 481-9588.

Dahlia sale

   The Puget Sound Dahlia Association will hold its annual public tuber sale at the Faith Lutheran Church in Seattle Mar. 22, 1-8 p.m. and Mar. 23, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Hundreds of exhibition quality dahlias will be available, with experts to answer questions. For information, call 486-4897.

Spring garden lectures planned

   "Basics of Landscape Design" will be presented Mar. 26, 9 a.m.-noon in north Everett's Legion Memorial Park, as part of the free Spring Garden Lecture Series by Washington State University Cooperative Extension Snohomish County.

Screening set for learning disabilities
