Program offers adventurous learning
If you are age 55 or older and are looking for adventure and new experiences, Centrum's Elderhostel is offering two week-long sessions at Fort Worden State Park.
From May 12-18, participants can learn picture taking tips from experts in "Focus on Spring: Practice your Photography in Picturesque Port Townsend."
Also during that week, students will study the natural wonders of forest and sea in "Forests, Mountains and Sea: NW Washington's Unique Natural Diversity."
A tour of the homes, waterfront, galleries, and boat-making facilities will be available in "A Victorian Seaport: Port Townsend Then and Now."
A second Elderhostel program at Fort Worden will feature trend-setting artists sharing their views and discussing their work in "Northwest Art and Artists" set for May 26-June 1. "Forests, Mountains and Sea" and "A Victorian Seaport" will be offered again during this program.
Elderhostel participants live in dormitories with many single rooms, eat together in the dining hall, and study in the Fort's historic buildings, the beaches, and trails, as well as on field trips around Port Townsend.
Residential tuition is $360 for a one-week program. A special local commuter fee of $95 includes all classes and extracurricular activities. For more information, call (360) 385-3102.
