News from the Metro/King County Council
by Louise Miller, Vice Chair, District 3 Representative
Last week, we participated in a meeting with people from the Lower Snoqualmie Valley who want to develop more activities for youth to try and stem the tide of dysfunctional behavior.
It became obvious from the number of groups represented that there are many opportunities for youth activities, but the problem may be access and coordination. Our office will work with Teen Northshore, the YMCA, and the Multi-Service Center to see if we can supply some seed money and help with facilitating the partnerships.
Also last week, we had a large delegation of visitors from our sister country of Taiwan. The County Executive and 19 mayors from Kaohsuing, Taiwan were joined by their police commissioner and several law enforcement officials.
Our law enforcement departmen also has a sister department arrangement and regularly exchanges technology and policing ideas, such as our storefront officers program. A delegation from King County will be taking a business and trade mission in that will include Taiwan and Hong Kong.
