Bond issue vote is not a blank check
As an elected official, I say, "Enough is enough!" We do not need to spend $500,000 to remodel a fire station that is only 10 years old! I know the people voted a bond issue to upgrade fire stations, but that is not a blank check without accountability.
These days, accountability is being demanded of public officials and administrators by the taxpayers. As a new member of the remodel committee, I feel that the base bid of $250,627 is more than adequate to remodel the station.
Dare I say it, "If we don't use it, let's return it to the taxpayers." Can you believe that I have received criticism for that statement?
