Fate of Blakely Ridge, Northridge await decision
by Jeff Switzer
BEAR CREEK--Even as the Northridge hearings are set to begin, the approved urban planned development of Blakely Ridge is still up in the air, as the developers, the opponents, and King County await the decision of the Growth Management Hearings Board on the fully contained community (FCC) designation.
The Hearings Board is expected to render their decision by mid-May on whether King County complied with the December 1995 remand order to redesignate the area as an FCC.
Additionally, because of a decision by the State Legislature last year amending the operations of the board, the board can reconsider its original decision and give substantive review to the ordinances passed by the County Council. The board can also request arguments on the merits of King County's actions.
