News from Metro/King County Council
by Louise Miller, Woodinville, Vice Chair, District 3 Representative
Last week at the Eastside Disaster Preparedness Expo at Lake Washington Technical College, geologists from the University of Washington stated that our area is overdue for an earthquake.
Even though we've heard this statement repeatedly, how many of us would be prepared in an emergency to go without heat, electricity, water, telephone, or transportation? What if fire, police, and medical assistance are overwhelmed and unable to meet the demand for emergency services?
King County's Office of Emergency Mangement can provide assistance through Neighborhood Emergency Teams (NET), a community-based disaster response program. Call 296-3830 or my office at 296-1003.
