The 2,000 revelers at the 1994 Black & White Ball helped raise $100,000 for the museum.
The Seattle Art Museum will host its third Black & White Ball fundraiser May 17. An expected 2,500 guests will have their choice of five stages of entertainment ranging from disco (courtesy of Hit Explosion) and blues (The Wild Rhododendrons) to ballroom dancing.
Guests will also sample hors d'oeuvres, wine, espresso, and non-alcoholic beverages from 40 of Seattle's finest restaurants.
Dress will be black and white, but guests are encouraged to experiment. "Half the fun is the incredible people-watching," said Katy Titcomb, a member of the SAM Board of Trustees.
Attendees are expected to arrive in tuxedos, floor-length gowns, and elegant urban-wear.
Tickets are $75 per person in advance from Ticketmaster (292-ARTS) or the SAM Box Office; or $85 at the door (21 and older only).
The Black and White Ball is sponsored by AT&T Wireless, Turgeon-Raine Jewellers, BMW Seattle, Ragen MacKenzie, Inc., Olympic Medical, Two Angels Antiques, M.G. Vallejo Winery, and Emerald Downs. Call 654-3121 for details.
