A 25-year-old Sultan man died and a Monroe couple suffered neck and back injuries after a two-car accident Thursday on SR-522, a half-mile west of the Snohomish River Bridge.
David B. Champeaux was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the State Patrol, Champeaux was driving his 1988 Isuzu four-door westbound on SR-522 when his car was struck in the westbound lane at 6:30 a.m. by an eastbound 1979 Ford van driven by 73-year-old John K. Blomberg, accompanied by Blomberg's wife Julie, 72.
Champeaux's car was totaled; the Blomberg's van incurred $8,000 in damage. The State Patrol said Champeaux was not wearing a safety belt. The Blombergs, who were wearing safety belts, were transported to Evergreen Hospital.
