Lake Forest Park kicks off 'Green Gardening'

   The City of Lake Forest Park's "Green Gardening" program is beginning its 1996 season with a May 18th workshop for "How to..." Green Gardening is a set of gardening techniques that helps create attractive home landscapes while protecting human health and the environment.

Camp offers quality family time

   The Northshore YMCA is offering families a chance to "go to camp" together June 29-30 at Camp Colman on the western shore of the Longbranch Peninsula in southern Puget Sound. The cost of $25 for adults and $20 for children up to age 17 includes three meals, lodging for one night, and activity areas. Campers can take part in hiking, fishing, boating, basketball, volleyball, archery, and a climbing wall, as well as camp songs around the evening fire. Property owners warning

   When planting trees on property near power lines, apply for a free Bonneville Power Administration tree and brush permit. When trees are planted on a BPA right-of-way, limit trees and shrubs on the right-of-way to no more than 10 feet in height, don't plant within 30 feet of towers or poles, leave a travel path down the right-of-way, do not block access to towers and structures, and never plant trees directly beneath power lines.
