Northshore PTA brings home awards

Northshore PTA awarded The Northshore PTA created history this past weekend, collecting all three top awards, plus a number of additional honors at the Washington State PTA banquet.
   The Outstanding Service Award is being shared by two individuals. Sue Paro, a Northshore School Board member, is one of the recipients.
   The Outstanding Council Award for the state was given to the Northshore PTA Council for the second year in a row, a first in PTA history. In the 18 years in which this award has been given, Northshore has won six times.
   The Outstanding Local Unit Award was given to the Kenmore Elementary PTA for the second year in a row. This is also a first.
   In the Outstanding Newsletters category, Canyon Creek PTA was one of the local unit winners. The Northshore PTA Council was one of four council winners. Honor Unit awards were given to Lockwood PTA, Kenmore PTA and Cottage Lake PTA.
   "We are absolutely thrilled that these hard-working individuals have been recognized for their contributions to the educational program in the Northshore district," said Superintendent Dr. Karen Forys. "We've always known how fortunate the district and the students are to be the recipients of this caliber of commitment. Reinforcement from another source is a real bonus."
