Community assistance valued by team
In the issue of April 22, an article about the local paintball team Maximum Velocity (Max V) was printed. As Team Captain of Maximum Velocity, and on behalf of the members of the team, I would like to extend many thanks to the Woodinville community.
A number of Woodinville businesses and residents went out of their way to make our tournament a great success.
The article "Local team trying to change image of paintball" was written by Jeff Switzer. I would like to thank Mr.Switzer for his time and consideration in writing the article.
Dorothy and Ron Saarinen gave endlessly to support us all the way to Montana and home again. Dorothy spent four days driving more than 1,300 miles through rain, snow, hail, high winds, and even a little sun. Ron acquired a partial sponsorship from Valvoline.
Kathy and Larry Gordon of AMS provided sponsorship and an important equipment loan.
Don and Kathy Shaw of Bigfoot Bagels provided bagels and their famous Bagel Sandwiches for the trip to Montana.
Zita Mazzola arranged the best deal for a 15-passenger van rental that hauled us safely across three states in comfort and style.
Chuck Nyman and Teana Wulf were very helpful in providing snacks and equipment that were crucial to our trip. Also, Chuck provides a field for our regular weekly practices.
Martha Hopkins of Paintball Playground was extremely generous in providing a location for our final practices.
Additional thanks go to: Rick Walters and Steve Caldon of Splat Attack and Team Sting; Dan Bonebreak of Planet Paintball and Phantom Force; and Team Hot.
My personal thanks go to R.V. Palmer, Steve Saarinen, Travis Nyman, Robbie Saarinen, and Adam Shaw. After months of planning, weeks of practicing, and endless hours of meetings we pulled together an amazing show of teamwork. This was a great opportunity for us to learn more about the sport and a lot about each other.
Thanks for a great tournament.
Richard-Augustus Mazzola, Team Captain, Maximum Velocity
