YMCA campaign beats goal

   The Northshore YMCA has announced that thanks to community support, its "Our Partners With Youth" fundraising campaign raised $95, 822, surpassing the goal set for this year. Volunteer leaders for the successful campaign were Walt Yeager, Bob Russell, and Judy Burdell. The funds will be used to establish scholarships and provide new opportunities for low-income families to take part in Y programs, and help support the Y's teen initiative programs by helping keep teens off the streets and involved in challenging activities.

Ste. Michelle celebrates 20 years

   Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery celebrates its 20th anniversary this summer beginning June 7 with a performance by Tony Bennett. The winery will also host a number of special Wine and Food Appreciation programs, as well as its complimentary tours and wine tastings. For information, call 1-800-267-6793.

Help Washington trails

   More than one million people in the nation and Washington State will celebrate National Trails Day on June 1. The focus in Washington is on getting volunteers to help maintain state trail systems damaged from severe weather. Events will take place throughout June. King County Iris Society hosts show of blooms

   Pavilion Mall's Center Court in Tukwila will feature more than 100 varieties of irises at the King County Iris Society show June 1 and 2, 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. The show will feature exhibits offering artistic impressions and photography. In addition to the Iris Society members, on-site expert gardeners from major commercial growers will be offering free tips to customers on growing their own irises. Wine and Crab Festival planned

   A Wine and Crab Festival will be held at SilverLake Sparkling Cellars in Woodinville Sunday, June 2. Dungeness Crabs will be served with specific SilverLake and Sentinel Peak wines, plus sauces to complement the pairing. Crab will be served beginning at 1 p.m. and will continue until 4 p.m. In addition to wine and food, music will be provided by the Cascade High School Jazz Band beginning at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $7 and includes a souvenir tasting glass and one serving of Dungeness Crab.
