Obituary: Chantry D'leen Betts
Funeral services were held May 23 at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Kirkland for Chantry D'leen Betts, who died May 19 in Edmonds of an undiagnosed heart disease.
Chantry, the 16-year-old daughter of R. Bartly and Jacqueline Betts of Kirkland, was born in Brooks, Alberta, Canada, July 1, 1979. When she was five, the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and then in 1988 to Kirkland.
An honor roll student at Juanita High School, Chantry was active in drama and choir. She was a self-taught musician who loved to play the piano and guitar and set several of her many poems to music. Also, she served as a volunteer at Evergreen Hospital and at a local nursing home.
Other than her parents, Chantry is survived by her brothers, Kadin Betts of Dallas, Texas, Eric Betts of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Damon and Jerrin Betts of Kirkland; sisters Jessica Rupp and her husband Doug of Seattle, Shawndra Johnson and husband Paul of Ft. Worth, Texas, Tandy Imhoff and husband Eric of Kirkland, Lusannah Betts of Bothell, and Ayrian Betts of Kirkland.
She is also survived by her grandparents, Howard and Doris Betts of Kirkland, and grandmother Marilyn Stoddard of Kerrville, Texas.
