Fowler awarded Crystal Apple for communication
Northshore school board member Jean Fowler's commitment to increasing communication and nurturing diversity has earned her the Crystal Apple Award, the highest award presented by the Washington School Public Relations Association.
Among her contributions have been her initiation of a board decision-making matrix to better community communications; her assistance in the search for a new superintendent; a form to collect feedback on the effectiveness of board meetings; the development of a new school board brochure; making the board more accessible to the community; and the formation of partnerships with the local hospital and other area health organizations.
Dr. Pamela Steele, Director of Communications for Northshore, called Fowler a "true champion in the development and implementation of communication, marketing, and public relations efforts with diverse community groups."
Steele cited Fowler's "warm and caring style that makes everyone feel comfortable, as well as her devotion to community service."
