Woodinville athletes at Special Olympics

Special Olympics Two teams of Woodinville Falcons are expected to compete June 1-2 at the 23rd annual Special Olympics.
   Over 2,300 students from across the state will take part in aquatic events, track and field, cycling, gymnastics, power lifting, soccer, and team handball. Woodinville will be participating in swimming and track and field events.
   Opening Ceremonies for the games take place May 31st, 7:30 p.m. at McChord Air Force Base. The next day, events will take place at four locations: Fort Lewis, Tacoma YMCA, McChord Air Force Base, and Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
   Coach Woody Crosby will take one team of Falcons to compete in the Aquatic events. Annie Anderson, Heidi Evans, and Somer Pederson are scheduled to compete in the 25 and 50 meter freestyle, and the 25 and 50 meter backstroke events; Emily Martinek will swim both the 25 meter freestyle and backstroke; and Desra Scollard will swim the 25 and 50 meter freestyle events.
   Track and Field coach Bill West will take a second team of Falcons to compete in the games.
