Double taxation to buy what we own
When the school districts determine they need new schools, they come to the taxpayers for the money. The questions arise when the schools no longer need the older school buildings and surrounding property. Who really owns this property? It's the taxpayers!
I propose to the City Council that we don't need another vote like the last $7.5 million bond issue. We taxpayers own the property and we should use it however we desire, i.e. turning it over to the city for their use. That way the expenses would only be for renovation. We would not need the higher allotment to purchase property which is already owned by the public.
It would be double taxation to buy what we built and bought in the first place.
