King County roads in for a long summer of traffic improvements
Capital Improvement Projects scheduled for this summer by the Washington State Department of Transportation include several in this area.
Crews will repave SR-203 from SR-202 in Fall City to Carnation and replace guard rails on some bridges, causing some delays for motorists from May through August.
Crews are widening NE 160th Street at I-405 from two lanes to five, causing slowdowns on NE 160th Street through December of this year.
Beginning this month, workers will widen the existing eastbound shoulder on SR-522 from 41st Avenue NE to 73rd Avenue NE for use as a transit lane by buses. Heavy congestion is expected during closures. The project will continue through April 1997.
Work started last month on a project to demolish the existing SR-9 bridge crossing SR-522 to accommodate five lanes. There will be short ramp closures on both roads. Work is scheduled to continue through October.
