Woodinville athletes are winners

   Kevin McElroy of Woodinville High School completed his first season playing hockey in Canada last week when his team won the Canadian National Junior "A" Championship.
   McElroy plays for the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League. Vernon beat the heavily-favored host team Melfort Mustangs 2-0 in the nationally televised championship game.
   Junior A Hockey is the highest amateur level in North America for age levels of17-20 years old. McElroy played his youth hockey at Sno-King Hockey Association in Kingsgate.

   Bellevue Christian sophomore Keely Nelson, daughter of Ken and Andree Nelson of Woodinville, placed second in the 800-meter run at the Class A State Track Meet in Spokane May 24-25. Her time of 2:20.90 broke the Bellevue Christian record.
   The honor roll student had previously swept the Cascade A League and the Northwest District Meets.

   Jennifer Cates of Woodinville helped the Washington Junior Golf Association win the Seal Trophy in the 10th annual North Pacific Junior Ladies Team Matches held at the Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club.
