Falcons fly at Special Olympics

Special Olympics Winners at the 1996 Washington Special Olympics held at Fort Lewis last weekend included aquatic competitor Somer Pederson, who won a first place in the 25 meter freestyle, and the 25m and 50m backstroke.
   Finishing second in their swimming events were Desra Scollard and Emily Martinek. Heidi Evans took a third place, and Annie Anderson was barely beaten out for a medal.
   In the track and field competition, Ian Anderson, Molly Borchers, Jason Center, Jenna Derieg, Mel Patterson, James Eiseman, Jaimi Lopez, and Tim Pittman placed first their individual events.
   Cheri Ball, Suzie Oliver, Mindy Shandorf, Travis Walker, and Amy Smiley all placed in their events.
   The teams are coached by Woody Crosby and Bill West.
