Commuters on Woodinville-Duvall Road had to detour just past Reintree on Monday afternoon, June 10, because of a six-car accident that blocked both lanes for more than two hours.
The accident occurred when a westbound Chevrolet Cavalier stopped at 194th Street to make a left turn. Three vehicles slowed and stopped behind the Cavalier, but a Peterbilt truck was unable to stop.
The Peterbilt rear-ended a GMC delivery truck, which in turn rear-ended a Chevrolet 4X4. The 4X4 veered into the eastbound lane and struck a Honda Civic. The GMC delivery truck continued forward, hitting a Dodge van, which in turn struck the Cavalier.
The driver of the GMC, a 26-year-old Kirkland man, and the driver of the Civic, a 42-year-old Duvall woman, complained of chest, neck, and back pain.
In the 4X4, a Woodinville woman, 41, suffered chest, rib, and hip pain; her 11-year-old son sustained minor cuts and abrasions in addition to back pain. The driver of the Dodge van, a 44-year-old Woodinville woman, escaped with mild abrasions on her face, back, and legs. All were transported to Evergreen Hospital.
The 44-year-old Camano Island man driving the Peterbilt was given two citations by police, including one for speeding.
