Woodinville Swoosh undefeated

  The Woodinville "Swoosh" basketball team was undefeated and won the championship for the 7th and 8th grade girls division at the Chelan Slam and Jam 3 on 3 basketball tournament the weekend of June 22-23. The team players are Natalie Pyron, Hanna Langsev, Karen Griego, and Lisa Acomb.
   Volleyball tournament set
   The Benefit Gang, a local non-profit organization in the Puget Sound region, is hosting its eighth annual Set, Spike and Give Volleyball Tournament July 27 at Greenlake Park in Seattle.
   The tournament is a 64-team, 6-on-6 coed fundraiser, the largest one-day, grass volleyball tournament in the state. Entry fee is $160 per team ($20 per person). All players receive a T-shirt, catered lunch, a raffle, prizes, and a full day of volleyball. Call (206) 443-3277.
   Winners at bird exhibit
   Winners at the Pacific NW Spring Bird Exhibition at the Puyallup Spring Fair were Kathy Short, Woodinville in the cockatiel category, and Del O'Connell, Bothell, in the budgerigar category.
   Paintballers place at tourney
   On May 25, the local paintball team Maximum Velocity placed 10th of 12 teams in their first novice competition, competing in Black Diamond against teams from all over the West Coast.
   Junior golfers qualify for district tournaments
   The District 2 Qualifying Tournament was held June 24 at Mt.Si Golf Course, par 72.
   The boys 15-17 age bracket was won by Spraque Kolp of Woodinville from Bellevue Municipal with a 3 under par 69.
   The boys 12-14 was won with an even par round of 72 by Derek Berg of Duvall.
   In Boys 8-11, Reid Rader of Kenmore placed first, Palmer Balke of Bothell placed 4th, and Charlie Johnson of Carnation placed 6th.
   In the girls 15-17 age bracket, Megan Sanders of Carnation placed 2nd, and Kellie Wilson of Bothell placed 5th.
   The girls 12-14 age bracket was won by Stephanie Wei of Duvall.
   At a tournament held June 26 at Capitol City Golf Course Sprague Kolp and Jennifer Cates, both of Woodinville, qualified for the Optimist International Junior World Tournament.
   Puyallup fair offers advance tickets
   The Puyallup Fair is selling a new advance ticket package July 8-Sept 5, at PayLess Drug Stores.
   The "Do the Value Pack" sells for $24.95, and includes four gate tickets, one parking ticket, 20 ride coupons, and 10 food coupons, a $54 value.
