Farewell to Jack Fariss

Jack Fariss We were saddened to learn that Jack Fariss passed away last Thursday.
Many of you knew him through his delivery of the Valley View newspapers on the counters throughout Duvall, Carnation, and Fall City. Others may remember his stories and feature articles, published in all three of our newspapers.
His coworkers here have other memories too: his excitement at discovering a new story in the Valley, his enthusiasm about a poetry class he was attending, his curiosity and his joy in life, all shared with a personal presence that lent them an even greater reality.
Jack embarked on numerous travel outings, from the North Cascades Highway to Australia, and he communicated his adventures through his writing, always practicing newly learned techniques and skills.
His big smile and good humor were contagious. He approached each day with a delight that made itself felt all around him. Jack leaves a legacy of the value he set on every human being and of kindness to all. He will be greatly missed.
Our sincere sympathies to his wife and children.
