Picnic at Ste. Michelle to benefit cancer research
The Pinnacle Picnic, a casually elegant summer event to benefit Expedition Inspiration and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, is planned for July 25 at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. The champagne social hour and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. At 7:30, guests will have the opportunity to bid on exciting mountain getaways, sports equipment, and other outdoor-themed items at the live auction. Dancing and entertainment will be provided by singer/songwriter Duffy Bishop. Cost for the event is $60 per person. For reservations and information, call 667-5896.
Street of Dreams opens
The 13th annual Street of Dreams will be held at Summitridge in Bellevue, on Cougar Mountain. This year's show will feature eight estate-sized homes priced up to $700,000. The Street of Dreams shows off the latest trends, designs, landscaping features, and technology. It runs daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. through August 18. For information, call 654-HOME (4663).
The public is invited to a summer social at the Everett home of the late Senator Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson and his wife, Helen, July 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $35. Make reservations by calling 252-2305.
Funding available for farm projects
Snohomish Conservation District has announced a new program to assist small farm owners in making improvements on their farms. The program provides 50 percent cost-share on practices which protect and enhance streams and wetlands. Owners of livestock can get assistance with fencing, barn gutters, compost facilities, sacrifice areas, and other practices which help keep water clean and prevent animal waste from entering water bodies. Annual Fuchsia Show set for Country Village
The Sno-King Fuchsia Society is holding their annual show August 10 and 11 at the Country Village Shopping Center on the Old Bothell/Everett Highway from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show features fuchsia favorites in hanging baskets, wall boxes, decorative rings, and trellis. There will be standard fuchsia trees, and fuchsias in bush styles, in addition to a blossom table with miniatures and novelty containers.
