Swimmers win national medals
Jennifer Clarke, Katie King, and Bryn Thompson of Woodinville, competing with the Seattle Aqua Club, won three medals at the 1996 U.S. Age Group National Championships held in Federal Way.
More than 200 synchronized swimmers from all over the U.S. competed in this event after qualifying in local and regional meets.
Together with their teammates, Elaine Henriksen (Edmonds), Kelly Hopkins (Kirkland), Chara Rydzak (Bothell), Jamie Walker (Kirkland), and Jessa Wilkins-Haigh (Lynnwood), they placed 5th in the 18-19 age group team finals.
Jennifer, Jamie, and Jessa also placed in the 16-17 age group trio finals, and Jennifer and Elaine placed 8th in the 18-19 age group duet finals.
This is the greatest number of medals won by the club at a national meet. The team has qualified to compete in the U.S. Open being held in Norton, Massachusetts.
