Fair offers beer & wine competition
For the first time in its history, the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe is going to host a competition for homemade beer, wine, and liqueur.
The competition is open to anyone 21 years of age and older. You do not need to be part of 4-H of FFA or a resident of Snohomish County. Anyone of any skill level may enter. Entries will be taken August 19 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Display Hall. There is no entry fee.
The wine section offers competition for fruit wines, berry wines, country style wines, grape, both varietal and non-varietal, dessert wines, and sparkling wines.
The liqueur section has contests for cream liqueurs, cordials, and specialty items like amaretto, as well as fruit and berry brandies.
Prizes include ribbons, prize money, and special awards for the best English Pale Ale and the best Dry Red Wine. For information, call (360) 668-5660 or (306) 435-5014.
