Bank robbed in Canyon Park
by Jeff Switzer
Last Wednesday, a suspect believed to have robbed three other area banks struck again, this time hitting the Canyon Park First Interstate and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to witnesses, the suspect walked into the bank at 1:15 p.m. wearing a black baseball hat over a black turban. His face was streaked with paint and a dark handkerchief covered his neck.
He then pushed a customer down and began shouting for money. The suspect did not brandish a weapon.
Authorities believe the red/orange pickup truck he fled in on Interstate 405 was stolen.
FBI officials believe the suspect is the same man responsible for robberies on June 25 in Mill Creek, July 5 in Martha Lake, and July 13 in Canyon Park. The suspect in those robberies was described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a baseball cap.
The robbery is currently under investigation by federal agents.
