Man sought following accident

   Traffic was halted on Highway 2 in both directions for several hours last Saturday evening when an unknown man in a stolen truck hit the rear of a deputy's car during a high-speed chase, spun, and then hit another car which burst into flames. The man, described as young, dark complexion, white shirt, and baseball cap, fled on foot. Canine units, man trackers, and bloodhounds failed to find the man. Anyone with information should contact the Snohomish County Sheriff's at 388-3839.
   Matthew Acheson , 25 years old, was critically injured and airlifted to Harborview. The deputy received head, neck, and back injuries.

Bothell motorcyclist dies in crash

   A 26-year-old Bothell man died in a car-motorcycle accident on Sunday July 28 in Monroe. According to the State Patrol, Bret Barrett crossed the center line as he was traveling east on Highbridge road Sunday afternoon around 3:45 p.m., colliding with a car near Welch Road. Barrett was flown to Harborview Medical Center where he died about two hours later.

Louise Miller appointed to water quality team

   Metropolitan King County Councilmember Louise Miller, representing District 3, is one of two Puget Sound area elected officials recently appointed by Governor Mike Lowry to a seat on the Puget Sound Water Quality Action Team, a group of state and local leaders charged with coordinating Puget Sound water quality protection efforts.
