Evergreen Fair set to open in Monroe
This year's Evergreen State Fair will run 12 days, Aug. 22 through Labor Day, Sept. 2.
Special admission days include Carnival Day, Aug. 22, with a special admission price of $3 per person (5 and under free). Gates are open noon to 10 p.m.
Opening Day/Senior Citizen Day is Aug. 23 with free gate admission for senior citizens 62 and over.
Children presenting a valid D.A.R.E. card or wearing a D.A.R.E. T-shirt Aug. 26 will get free gate admission. Also, fairgoers are encouraged to bring canned good for Food Lifeline.
Armed Forces Day is Aug. 28 when all service personnel in uniform (military I.D. required) receive free admission
Kids' Day will be Aug. 29. Children 15 years and under get free gate admission.
Last Chance Day, Sept. 2, will offer half-price admission. Gates will be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Featured on the Grandstand Stage will be Toby Keith, Aug. 26; Mark Chesnutt, Aug. 27; Roy Clark, Aug. 28; Hal Ketchum, Aug. 29; Rick Trevino and Pam Tillis, Aug. 30. All shows are at 4 and 8 p.m. There are 4,000 free concert seats in the grandstand. Reserved up-front seating is also available (fee charged) by calling (360) 794-0395 to charge by phone.
New to the fair this year will be the Butler Amusements Carnival, billed as the "Cleanest Show in the West." The carnival, which runs daily from noon to 11 p.m., features a giant gondola wheel, the world's largest trailer-mounted ferris wheel, and a Kiddie Land area.
Ticket prices for daily admission are $7 for adults 16-61 years; $4 for senior citizens (62+); $4 for students (12-15 years); $3 for children 6-11 years; and free for children 5 and under.
Save money by purchasing advance discount admission tickets and carnival coupon books at local Safeway stores. Family, rodeo, and fair/race tickets are also available. Parking is $3 per car for each visit.
