'Virtual' Dairy Farm at Monroe State Fair

MONROE--The visitors to the Evergreen State Fair will be able to visit a "virtual" dairy farm--minus the cow pies.
The Dairy Farmers of Washington are sending their "Traveling Cowosk" interactive computer program to the Evergreen State Fair from Aug. 22 to Sept. 2. The Traveling Cowosk is a seven-foot-high kiosk that is shaped like a giant milk carton and equipped with a computer-operated educational program.
During the opening weekend of the fair, the Future Farmers of America will assist the Dairy Farmers of Washington at the Cowosk exhibit by manning a milk carton toss game. FFA members will also help give away Dairy Farmers of Washington promotional items and free samples of Washington dairy products.
The Cowosk will be located in the Dairy Shrine Barn, adjacent to the Dairy Barn.
The Dairy Farmers have put everything they know about cows, dairy foods, life on a dairy farm and Washington's dairy industry into the computer-operated Cowosk, which presents the information through video, animation, spoken words, and music.
