Math workshops for parents
Parents of children in grades 1-3 are invited to attend a free math workshop at the Bothell Library Aug. 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. This workshop will help parents gear up for school with ideas for games they can play with their children to help them with math and problem-solving. Families will go home with lots of ideas for games and activities, as well as a packet of useful information on how they can help their children at home. Get a jump-start on fall quarter
Shoreline Community College in Seattle offers a jump-start program for the fall quarter. Most of the courses are offered over a three-week period between Sept. 3 and Sept. 20. Jump-start students need to apply to the college and pay a $10 application fee and register by Sept. 3. For more information, call Shoreline Community College at 546-4101.
Kirkland Parks & Community Services will offer after-school classes in Sept. and Oct. Yoga for Children is planned for Mondays. Children can explore tentacles, bugs, and fossils on Tuesdays. Wednesdays will be a youth dance sampler and after-school arts. Sculpture and mask making will be available on Thurdays. Call 828-1217.
