WOODINVILLE--Leisure Care Retirement Communities will be breaking ground at Brittany Park, where 147 units are planned to open in fall 1997 on land south of the Sorenson School on the South Bypass in Woodinville.
The project, to cost $20 million, will be built in two phases on the five-acre parcel, the first phase approximating 146,200 square feet. Phase II will add about 50,000 square feet. When completed, it will bring Leisure Care's facilities in the Puget Sound area to four, including Lynnwood, Everett, Kent, and Bellevue, in addition to 23 retirement communities in nine western states.
The facility in Woodinville will have both independent and assisted-living apartments, in one- and two- studio apartments ranging up to 1,062 square feet. Other features of the complex include "an elegant restaurant-style dining room," activities room, beauty salon, card rooms, coffee parlor, library, and exercise room.
Weekly housekeeping and linen service will be provided for residents, as well as transportation and activities planned by the full-time program director. Assisted living services will be provided on an as-needed basis for those residents requiring additional assistance.
The Wattenbarger Architects and Food Service Design, both of Bellevue, designed the facility, with interior design and furnishings by Potter-Stewart Design of Bellevue. W.G. Clark Construction Company of Seattle will be building the facility.
Leisure Care, Inc. is the 17th-largest retirement housing company in the country and the seventh-largest for number of its assisted living units. Owned by Chuck and Karen Lytle, the company has more than 30 years' experience in the retirement community industry.
"We are very excited about this project as it will bring high-quality retirement living, with a caring environment, to the seniors in the Woodinville area," said Chuck Lytle, president and CEO of Leisure Care.
