Computer Camp is a hit at Cottage Lake Elementary
Forty-eight students signed up this year for the Cottage Lake Computer Camp held Aug. 5-9 at the elementary school. The camp was a result of the combined efforts of the PTA, teachers, Nikki McGrath, and Terrie Wagner, and the school's computer lab coordinator, Darlene Wing.
Ages of the campers ranged from those entering the first grade to departing sixth graders. Ten parents and eight other teachers participated in the camp as facilitators. Three members of the school's newly-founded Multimedia Club helped, as did Jeremy Horst, a Woodinville High School student.
During the week-long camp, the students were given an opportunity to learn how to use the technology available at Cottage Lake Elementary. The camp project consisted of using a snapshot camera, a digital camera, a video camera, a laser disc, and a scanner to incorporate graphics, video, and sound into multimedia presentations.
Also, students were given the opportunity to explore subjects that interested them or to create a presentation about themselves.
