   Pacific Northwest Ballet's grand-scale presentation of Carmina Burana returns to the Opera House stage Sept. 24-28 and Oct. 2-3. Featured in the production is an enormous 26-foot, 1,400-pound golden wheel which pivots and rotates to frame the choreography. The ballet has played to sellout crowds and standing ovations since its premiere in 1993. Prices range from $14 to $69.    The Northwest Chamber Orchestra opens its 1996-97 season with a Bach Festival Sept. 19, 21, and 22 at Kane Hall on the University of Washington campus. Call 343-3955.

   A matinee concert of operatic favorites will be held Sept. 15 at 4:00 p.m. at the University Unitarian Church. Call 525-8400.

   The Seattle Bach Choir will perform Sept. 14, 8:00 p.m. at Hokum Hall in West Seattle and Sept. 15, 3:00 p.m. at the Seattle Art Museum. 324-4828.

   The Rainier Chamber Winds 1996-97 concert season opens with performances at the Triple J Cafe in Kirkland Oct. 3, 7-9 p.m. and Oct. 6, 2:30 p.m. at the Seattle Art Museum. Call 780-1021.

   The Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra will perform music from great Russian composers on opening nights Oct. 1 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Westminster Chapel in Bellevue. Call 455-4171.

   The annual Pan African Concert will be presented Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9460 NE 14th St. in Bellevue and Sept. 21 at 8 pm. at the First United Methodist Church, 5th and Marion in Seattle. A donation of $5 is suggested at the door.
