DAR marks Constitution Week
The Daughters of the American Revolution, David Douglas Chapter, will observe the 209th Anniversary of Constitution Week, Sept. 15-21, with two special events.
On Sept. 15, 1-5 p.m. at the Redmond Library, the 2nd annual scroll-signing ceremony will be held in cooperation with the National Constitution Center. Local dignitaries will be on hand to recreate the signing of the Constitution.
The public, especially school children, are invited to sign the scroll, and each will be given a pin and a copy of the original Constitution. The scroll with the signatures will be sent to the Constitutional Center in Philadelphia.
On Sept. 17 at 4 p.m., everyone is invited to participate in Bells Across America, to signify the exact time and date of the signing of the Constitution. Anyone who has a bell can ring it at this time.
The chapter will hold its regular meeting, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Redmond Senior Center. For more information, call 821-7966.
