Northshore U-13 Girls win tourney
Spectre '84, the U-13 girls team from the Northshore Youth Soccer Association (NYSA) in the Bothell/Woodinville area, won the 1996 Northwest Cup Soccer Tournament held in Spokane last weekend.
The team allowed three goals in six games. Spectre defeated the Sandpoint Strikers 2-0 in the Semifinal and the Spokane River City Steelers 2-1 in the Championship Game that went into overtime. In the previous five games played in the tournament, the Steelers had scored 26 goals.
The Spectre defensive corps of Megan Beden, Julia Egan, Sara Gaz, Lindsay Mercier, and keeper Beth Lippert held the Steelers to only one goal on four shots in the final.
Keri Carlton led the offense during the three-day tournament with four goals. Mary Pelto and Lindsey Price each scored two, with Heidi Kuhns and Keela Tierman scoring one each. Every player on the team shared in the assists.
In addition to those already mentioned are Kelsey Hall, Lauralee Howard, Amber Longhurst, Kristina Skogen, and Karin Sorensen.
