Owner searching for dog that was given away at store

Sparky the dog

"Sparky" in the family's wading pool.

lost dog Kim Prince of Duvall is looking for a person who accepted a golden retriever from a girl at the Family Grocer on Aug. 25.
"Sparky," a 3-year-old male owned by Kim and Vince Prince, apparently slipped his collar on a Saturday evening and, in a bizarre series of circumstances, ended up being given away the next day by a local youngster.
By doing some investigating, Kim learned that shortly after Sparky left his home, he was taken swimming at the Duvall beach by a neighbor. Sparky then ran away from the neighbor, making his way to the downtown area, where he was picked up by some boys, who gave him to someone at the dry cleaners. He was then passed along to a little girl who stood outside the Family Grocer with a "Free Dog" sign. The little girl then gave the dog away to an unknown person.
The Princes have had Sparky since he was eight weeks old. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the missing dog can call Kim or Vince Prince at 788-7184.
