Maltby Forum sets September topic: 'White Slave Labor'
"White Slave Labor in Early America and Industrial Britain" is the Maltby Forum topic for Sept. 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Labor historian MIchael A. Hoffman II will discuss his research into white chattel servitude in 17th and 18th century Britain and colonial America. Hoffman has unearthed new material from archives revealing what he calls the long-hidden extent of white enslavement in early America.
Participants are encouraged to state their questions, answers, comments, and opinions. A literature table will be provided for any brochures or handouts visitors may wish to share. A donation of $5 will help cover hall rental, travel, and materials costs.
The Maltby Community Club is located at 8711-206th St. SE, between Snohomish and Woodinville. Call 486-6628 or (360) 668-6773 for information.
