Beat the Bug at Bothell immunization event
The City of Bothell, with the American Lung Assn. and Visiting Nurse Services, will offer flu or pneumonia vaccine to all community members and city staff Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bothell Council Chambers, 18305 101st Ave. NE. Cost of the flu shot is $10; the pneumonia shot $20.
Medicare Part B does cover these immunizations and will be billed at the time of the visit. Payment must be made at time of immunization. Individuals will be required to sign a release/consent form at that time.
People under the age of 18 cannot be immunized at this event. Also, check with your physician before receiving the flu shot if you are allergic to eggs or egg products, have an active neurological disease, a history of Guillain Barre Syndrome, are sensitive to thimerosal (an ingredient in contact lens solution), are pregnant, have a fever or acute infection, or have received any other vaccine within the past 14 days.
Before receiving the pneumonia vaccine, check with your doctor if you are pregnant, have previously received a pneumococcal vaccine, have an infection, are receiving chemotherapy, or are scheduled for surgery in two weeks or less. Call 486-3256 for information.
