Falcons soccer tops Eastlake

WHS soccer by Kathy Gordon
The Woodinville girls soccer team edged Eastlake last week 2-1 to remain Kingco conference leaders. Within the first three minutes, Falcon senior Anna Lisa Skogen scored on a pass from senior Heather Hartstein, followed by an unassisted Hartstein goal at the five-minute mark.
In the entire first half, Eastlake's Wolves couldn't penetrate the Falcons' back four--juniors Whitney Ahlstrand and Katie Collings, sophomore Vanessa Pierce, and senior Tricia Gordon. Two Falcon goals were called back in the first half, one on an offsides call considered "questionable" by spectators.
The Wolves scored their only goal in the second half, but Woodinville continued to dominate the game. Falcon goaltender junior Marie Potter maintained her no-loss record with the win.
Woodinville is in first place in Kingco, 4-0-1, leading with 19 goals scored and four goals against. The Falcons face Lake Washington Oct. 15 at LWHS and Interlake Oct. 17 at Pop Keeney; JV at 5:30, Varsity at 7:30 p.m.
