Six-year-old is 'Top Dog'

Chris Welter

SeaDog coach Brian Schmetzer congratulates Chris Welter after he was named Top Dog.

Top Dog Chris Welter, 6-year-old son of Rick and Vicki Welter of Woodinville, was named the outstanding camper at the Seattle SeaDog Summer Camp for ages 5-16 held at Redmond's Marymoor Park this summer.
The Cottage Lake student was an unusual choice for "Top Dog" at the camp, since usually the honor goes to a much older soccer player. But Brian Schmetzer, assistant coach for the SeaDogs, explained that the award--along with a $300 savings bond--went to Chris for demonstrating a serious drive, skill, and determination that is uncharacteristic for his age.
