Halloween adventures at the HerbFarm

   The HerbFarm near Fall City holds its 9th annual Halloween Adventure through Oct. 31. Listen to scary stories, quest through a Haunted Hay Maze City, and find the fabled Secret Pumpkin Patch! Weekday Adventures last one to one-and-a-half hours and start every half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $5 per person, and reservations are required. Book reviews help shopping

   Books rank high on the shopping lists for holiday gifts for children. For this holiday season, Celebrations Press has put together comprehensive lists and reviews of new releases, as well as many of the time-honored traditional stories. Searching for the perfect holiday book can consume a large chunk of shopping time. These reviews can help shoppers narrow down their selections even before they enter the bookstore. Volunteers needed at MSC

   The Bothell branch of the Multi-Service Centers of North and East King County needs volunteers with trucks and vans to pick up surplus food from grocery stores and bring it to the food bank, which serves low-income families, seniors, and disabled people living in the Northshore area. Babysitting class for youth

   Youth in grades 5 through 7 will learn babysitting skills, including diapering and feeding, in Camp Fire's Babysitting Course, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Eastside Camp Fire office in Redmond at the Family Resource Center, 16315 NE 87th St., Ste.
