The demolition of the center building in the 175th Street Station began last week to make way for a new Taco Bell restaurant, shooting for a New Year's grand opening. The restaurant will be about 2,000 square feet, will seat 50 guests, and will employ at least 30 people.
Many are anxious to see the final result of the city's interim design principles applied to the building.
"We worked together with the city to develop a restaurant design that would best serve the community," said spokesperson Mary Jean Duran. "We're very excited about the results. This new restaurant will have a rustic look and be very pedestrian-friendly."
Duran added that there will also be extensive landscaping, including outside benches and an atrium.
