Oct. 25: WOODINVILLE crushed Newport 3-0 (15-6, 15-2, 15-10) behind junior Jenny Chong (12 digs), senior Anne Brawn (one ace and four kills), junior Michelle MacCarthy (four kills, 15 assists, and three blocks), and junior Sara Warner (one ace, 10 kills, and four blocks). The Falcons' record is 8-3.
Oct. 30: BOTHELL annihilated Issaquah 3-0 (15-5 15-5 15-3). Colleen Kerwin had seven kills, five digs, and two aces; Jill Mumm posted seven kills, seven digs, and one ace; Shana Colter had five kills and three blocks; Bethany Walinta posted four kills; Stephanie Speed logged in three kills, six digs, and two aces; Jackie McDaniel had three kills, one ace, and one block; and Jessie Woods recorded one ace and a huge 27 assists. The Cougars finished out the season 10-2, 3rd in the conference.
Oct. 29: WOODINVILLE defeated INGLEMOOR 4-0, limiting the Vikings to four shots on goal and earning a shutout for Marie Potter. Heather Hartstein scored unassisted in the first half, Kensie McCormack scored on a pass from Amanda Lim, and Tracey Smith booted the final goal unassisted.
Oct. 31: WOODINVILLE shut out Juanita 3-0, with two goals by Lim (on passes from Hartstein and Tricia Gordon) and a Smith goal from Vanessa Pierce.
Girls Cross Country
Oct. 30: The fleet-footed Falcon girls took first place at the SeaKing District Meet, and will be joining Newport and Issaquah at the state competition. WOODINVILLE won the meet with 63 points; INGLEMOOR placed 8th with 188. At the completion of the 2.98-mile run at Robinswood Park, Falcons Krissi Mathers came in third in 19:05, followed by Becky Weinz in fourth (19:11). From BOTHELL, Melisssa Chapman came in 6th in 18:23, and from INGLEMOOR, Stevie Roark placed 12th in 19:31. The top 15 are bound for state. Other WOODINVILLE finishers included Shannon Gingell (17th, 19:54), Nikki Gerken (20th, 19:58) and Alice Woolman (22nd, 20:05).
