Cedarcrest routs Elma, 48-34, heads to the playoffs

CHS football Cedarcrest High School moved ahead to the WIAA 1996 AA state football playoffs with a win last Friday over 10th-ranked Elma.
   The 48-34 win at Eastlake High School in Redmond was highlighted by three touchdowns by Cedarcrest running back Mason Lund. Two runs were from 18 yards and one from 28 yards. Lund ran 181 yards in 17 carries and averaged more than 10 yards per carry.
   Jr. quarterback Brent Robertson completed nine out of 16 passes for a total of 208 yards. One was a five-yard touchdown pass to his brother Bill, a senior. Other touchdowns were scored by Alan Zeiler and Jim Coma.
   The first round of the playoffs will be a game against Kennedy at Highline this Friday in a single elimination match. If Cedarcrest wins, the team will play the winner of the Eatonville/Rainier Beach game.
